Preparing for the Temperament of Vizsla Puppies

Before you consider buying Vizsla puppies, you should thoroughly research the breed in order to understand the temperament of these athletic, purebred dogs. Remember that not all puppies will conform to the norm for the breed; there is great variation from dog to dog.

In general, the Vizsla is a medium-sized, athletic dog who is typically bred for show, obedience, and field purposes. Vizslas are loaded with energy and require regular, vigorous exercise in order to stay happy and healthy.

Training is a must with this kind of puppy, but the good news is that Vizslas respond quite well to training. They are also willing obedience students.

Most owners find that their Vizslas are sensitive, gentle dogs that are friendly with most humans and other animals. Some have referred to the breed as a "Velcro dog" because of the Vizsla's tendency to attach itself to owners, typically on their laps.
